Hanwha-Techwin cameras have been integrated with Hosted Cloud Video to provide a reliable, simple and user friendly setup process.

Make sure to visit the supported Hanwha Techwin camera list before proceeding.

There are three ways you can setup a Hanwha Techwin camera:

  • Direct to the Cloud - Plug and Play option available on mobile only. This is the easiest and recommended method.
  • Webpage SDK Install - If the Direct-to-Cloud method is not possible, choose this method as an alternative. (Note: Some features available through the Direct-to-Cloud install are unavailable and will have to be configured manually within the camera interface)
  • Port Forwarded - This method bypasses the SDK install completely but allows for continuous recording and other cloud features.

Direct-to-Cloud (Plug and Play)

Prerequisites

  • Your Hanwha-Techwin camera will need to be on the supported cameras list. If it's not currently supported for plug-and-play Direct-To-Cloud, you will still be able to add it using the "Automatic Setup" process, however, the camera will need to be port forwarded first.
  • Download the app for Android and/or iOS in order to use Direct-To-Cloud. The feature cannot be leveraged directly through the webpage at this time. The webpage can be used to add a camera using the "Automatic Setup" and all camera functions and features will be available via the webpage, after the camera is aready added.
  • You will need to be on the same network as your Hanwha Techwin camera in order to find a camera using Direct-To-Cloud.
  • You must keep the HTTP port to 80 if using the Direct-to-Cloud option.

Adding a Hanwha Techwin IP camera using Direct-To-Cloud

1. Login to the Hosted Cloud Video app with your credentials and select "Add Camera"

2. Choose Hanwha Techwin from the list of cameras and select "Cameras Scan" to search your local network for cameras

Make sure you are on the same network as the camera, otherwise scan will not work. If the scan comes up with no entries, try turning your mobile device WiFi off and on and try again.

3. Select one or multiple cameras, from the scan results, that you wish to add.

Multiple functions are available from this portion of the setup:

  • If your camera requires a firmware update, you will be prompted to download and install the firmware in order to make the camera compatible with this feature. If your camera already has the latest firmware, this step will be skipped altogether.
  • Should the camera(s) be set with a password other than default, you will be prompted to enter the password to continue. If the password is the same for all cameras, you can retry the password for all cameras found in the scan
  • If the default password has not been changed, you will not need to enter a password.

4. Once the password is entered for the camera; a preview windows is available that is updated every few seconds. This is handy in the event that you are installing multiple cameras at a time and unsure of the exact location of the device. Check the box beside any camera that you wish to add. Once this is done, select "Add Selected Cameras".

5. Optional: select the "settings cog" to configure the following settings for the camera (model dependent):

  • Flip
  • Mirror
  • WDR
  • Simple Focus
  • Wisestream

6. Select "Done" when you have completed adding cameras. The process can be started again at any time, if other cameras are added to the network in the future.

Now REBOOT. Without a reboot you may have problems with motion events not coming in, especially if the camera was previously connected to another account.

At this point you should be brought to your Timeline and the cameras will have started recording to the cloud.

Webpage SDK Install of a Hanwha Techwin (Samsung) camera

Note: Ensure that you have your camera serial number and MAC ready. The SDK and firmware mentioned, can be obtained by an authorized partner and will need to be installed manually as outlined below. Also ensure that you are uploading the SDK from the same network as the camera or upload failures may occur.

The best method for installation is to use the Direct-To-Cloud add capabilities.  This guarantees that a number of important settings are configured, allowing a smooth installation.

If Direct-to-Cloud isn’t an option due to network security for example, there are some settings that are necessary to configure within the camera interface:

1. Camera date/timezone - This must be setup in order to successfully connect to the cloud.

Basic → Date & Time:

2. DNS -  If you are using an NVR the DNS might be altered and not working properly.  In addtion the default DNS may not function as expected.  Google Public DNS is often a good alternative: 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4

Basic → IP & Port:

3. Firmware - Generally there is custom firmware required for each Hanwha model. Make sure to contact your authorized reseller for this firmware.

System → Upgrade / Restart:

4. WiseStream - Ensure this is set to High

Video & Audio → WiseStream → Mode → High:

5. CAMC SDK app - Ensure that “Auto start: Use” is checked otherwise the application will not be started after a reboot or crash and also make sure that it is "started" and the status is listed as "Running...".

Open Platform:

6. Motion Detection - Off by default, it needs to be enabled to receive motion events.

Analytics → Motion detection

  • Enable Motion detection
  • Set Area(s) - some models will have the ability to engage multiple detection areas
  • Set Sensitivity

You should now be ready to head to the webpage to add the camera to the cloud!

Step #1. Start the "Add Camera" Wizard

Click on "Add Camera" and pick "Hanwha Techwin". Then name your camera whatever you'd like.

Once you click on next, you'll have to add your camera's serial number and MAC:

Click on Next.

In the Camera Settings menu you'll be presented with some optional camera settings and the ability to assign the camera a preexisting group. All the settings here can be accessed at a later time through the "edit" camera menu as well.

Port Forwarded Setup of Hanwha Techwin (Samsung)

Note:If you choose to install the camera without the SDK; ensure that the camera is port forwarded. If you have access to an Android or iOS device; it may be easier to use the Direct-To-Cloud camera add method available through our app.

Step #1. Start the "Add Camera" Wizard

First Login to your portal. Click on the "TIMELINE" tab. This is where you'll have a list of any cameras you've already setup.

Click on "Add Camera" and pick "Hanwha Techwin". Then name your camera whatever you'd like.

By toggling "Open SDK" off,  you will need to enter the camera's username, password, IP address, as well as the HTTP and RTSP ports. This means your HTTP and RTSP ports need to be forwarded on your router.

Click on Next.

In the Camera Settings menu you'll be presented with some optional camera settings and the ability to assign the camera a preexisting group. All the settings here can be accessed at a later time through the "edit" camera menu as well.

That's it for the setup!
